We have an opening for an Electronics Engineering Technical Associate to support the JASPER Program at the High Explosives Applications Facility (HEAF) at off-site locations, as needed (NNSS, CalTech, UC Davis, LANL, Sandia). You will provide electronics and software programming technical support for various testers, labs, and support equipment. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) supporting the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Principal Directorate.

This position will be filled at the 337.1 or 339.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Interact with scientific, operations, and engineering staff to perform experimental set-up and data acquisition of complex electro-optical diagnostics.
- Apply innovative technical expertise to the development and deployment of complex diagnostic and other systems.
- Author, critically review, and oversee the development and maintenance of system documentation including operations procedures and system configuration drawings.
- Acquire complex data using computer-based data acquisition and controls.
- Plan, organize, and lead projects including design description, schedule, and budget.
- Prepare and present at design and status reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 339.2 Level
- Conduct highly advanced analysis and post process  of complex raw data and author, review, and approve written reports to Principal Investigators (PI’s).
- Provide highly advanced technical interpretation of requirements and collaborate on design for highly complex electro-optical diagnostic systems.
- Serve as a technical and administrative lead to solve complex problems using original solutions to establish or modify guidelines, techniques, and procedures.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with computer systems, PLCs, programming languages, and HMI development tools.
- Advanced knowledge of electronic engineering design, fabrication, and/or assembly, including theory.
- Significant experience with project planning, budgeting, resource planning; conducting and/or participating in engineering design reviews.
- Significant experience participating in electronic systems operations and design; developing conceptual designs of electronic systems; designing, implementing, and/or testing prototypes; analyzing results; and experience with the associated tools and diagnostics.
- Advanced written, verbal, feedback, presentation communication skills for writing reports, writing detailed procedures, and/or making presentations.
- Effective interpersonal skills and experience working both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a schedule-driven environment.
- Ability to travel to multiple, some remote, sites to deploy and troubleshoot complex systems.
In addition at the 339.2 level
- Extensive experience in electronic engineering design, fabrication, and/or assembly.
- Extensive experience participating in electronic systems operations and design; developing conceptual designs of electronic systems; designing, implementing, and/or testing prototypes; analyzing results; and experience with the associated tools and diagnostics. 
- Highly advanced written, verbal, feedback, and presentation communication skills

Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with optical and/or electronic diagnostic equipment and initiation systems for high-explosives, and/or working with/around high-voltage or high-current equipment.
- Experience working with classified materials, documentation, and/or experimental data.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam:  A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
