For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Technical Coordinator. You will provide general technical and administrative support for acquisition, tracking, and coordination of parts, materials, and sub-systems within the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Directorate. NIF is a 24/7 operational facility and may occasionally require work overtime, shift, and/or weekends to accomplish goals; some work will occur in Radiological environments. This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering and Operations (LSEO) Division, within the Engineering Directorate.

Essential Duties
- Provide intermediate coordinator support requiring detailed knowledge of scientific or engineering programs, specifically related to Integrated Computer Control System (ICCS) assemblies.
- Participate as a project team member involved in planning. May have facility-related operations responsibilities, and/or support equipment acquisition requirements.
- Provide coordinator support for resolution of vendor supply and fabrication problems, obtain authorization for design changes, substitutions, job orders, and other related actions to resolve problems and ensure meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Stage, transport, and deliver parts around the LLNL site for secondary operations and/or staging of assembly and installation efforts. Will occasionally deliver or pick up parts from local-area suppliers.
- Interact with vendors, requesters, and other associates in the work unit, LLNL Procurement, NIF warehouse, LLNL Receiving, Materials Engineering Division (MED) shops, etc.
- Regularly provide detailed status updates to supervisor and customers/requesters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree (AS) in mechanical technology, electronics technology, or information systems; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Possess intermediate skills and understanding of relevant technologies and processes, to procure and coordinate electronic, mechanical, and/or electro-optic systems, and provide solutions to technical issues.
- Intermediate understanding of various acquisition processes; programmatic approval, bid, award, receive, property management, reconciliation, close-out, etc. 
- Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and intermediate knowledge of appropriate standards.
- Experience handling multiple assignments with frequent interruptions and conflicting/changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to safely drive pick-up trucks, secure loads, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of IPC standards for electronic assemblies and ASME Y14.5M.
- Knowledge of LLNL purchasing, procurement, and organizational procedures.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Anticipated Clearance Level:  Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
