We have an opening for a Document Operations Specialist to support Configuration Management in the Document Management Center (DMC) within Superblock (SBK) facilities. You will maintain facility documents and drawings for Safety Class and Safety Significant systems, structures and components (SSCs) such as confinement ventilation systems, and apply specialized work controls and safety provisions to support business processes in LLNL nuclear facilities, including configuration management requirements in DOE Order 420.1C, Facility Safety. This position is in the Nuclear and Hazardous Operations Program.
This position will be filled at either the A07.1 or A07.2 level depending on your qualifications.  Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.
Essential Duties
- Electronically track and authenticate controlled documents, assignments, ownership transfers, returns, change packages, destruction and reissues of facility safety plans and safety basis documents, and create electronic packages for printing and issuance to document custodians.
- Coordinate or approve account access to various document control applications to support the configuration management of the technical safety basis for SBK SSCs.
- Working across functional areas, facilitate the collection and management of nuclear facility records with searchable metadata, ensure data input accuracy and format compliance of documentation using multiple database applications, and provide accountability, cataloging, processing, inventory, retrieval, and distribution of documents.
- Perform search and retrieval activities of electronically managed information, using database applications and physical document searches in local record storage areas to locate archival records in support of SBK engineers, administrators, facility operators and mechanical technicians.
- Audit legacy metadata entry with physical records, update metadata and prepare document packages for scanning.
- Archive facility documents and drawings using production and large format scanners, moving data from various media to LLNL databases, and prepare records collections for long-term storage in the Laboratory Records Center.
- Manage document processing through the LLNL Information Management system and prepare electronic documents for proper marking and release.
- Make recommendations for process improvement and contribute to developing innovative solutions to increase efficiency in support of document management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the A07.2 Level
- Monitor document control requirements for compliance and lead the coordination of daily DMC activities; actively participate in task prioritization and the gathering, clarifying, and disseminating of information to support customer requests.
- Serve as a DMC resource specialist regarding document control practices, records, and configuration management requirements, including facility-specific and LLNL document retention schedules.
- Provide quality assurance production support of technical documents, including planning and monitoring to facilitate metrics and decisions related to schedule and/or issue escalation.

- Experience in document management, controlled document distribution, and record keeping systems.
- Experience coordinating workflow activities in a dynamic work environment under time constraints with conflicting and changing priorities.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a technical support environment, collaborating with others, and recommending process improvements.
- Effective customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to respond to customer needs, requests, and issues, and to maintain effective working relationships. 
- Experience effectively applying good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills to identify solutions and resolve issues.
- Experience collecting and correcting metadata from physical legacy records. 
- Experience, applying intermediate computer software skills and employing accurate keyboarding, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Digitally literate with strong database research skills.
In Addition, at the A07.2 Level
- Comprehensive knowledge of document control and configuration management requirements.
- Experience applying electronic document management databases and generating related process improvements.
- Advanced organizational skills, customer support, task prioritization, attention to detail, accuracy, and follow through.
Desired Qualification
- Associate Degree in Business or Technology area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of DOE standards, procedures, and techniques related to configuration management and quality assurance principles.
- Knowledge of LLNL document and records management policies and procedures, as well as nuclear facility-specific work controls.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
