We have multiple openings for a Coordinators/Technical Coordinators to support ongoing programmatic activities. You will support procurement, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, and repair of materials and equipment for scientific, engineering, or technical customers. These positions are in the Materials Engineering Division (MED), within the Engineering Directorate.
 
These positions will be filled at either the 538.1 or 538.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you selected at the higher level.
 
Essential Duties
- Provide basic technical, administrative and procurement support to process, coordinate and/or expedite Unicard Orders, Releases, and Requisitions for equipment, repairs, materials and hardware to meet program and project schedules.
- Procure a variety of requests ranging from mechanical components (e.g., vacuum pumps, gages, calibrated standards, optical), raw metal stock, chemicals, electronic components, computer and networking hardware, and/or biological and laboratory supplies and equipment; includes coordination and tracking of materials for customers and jobs, working with technical personnel to implement standards and specifications under close supervision.
- Process and procure mechanical, and/or electro-optic systems, and use established techniques and procedures to provide detailed status updates and to resolve basic solutions to technical issues.
- Review technical drawings for accuracy and completeness, ensuring basic technical guidelines, standards, specifications, and procedures are followed.
- Provide support for resolution of basic vendor supply and fabrication problems, including obtaining authorization for design changes, substitutions, job orders, and other related actions to resolve problems and ensure meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Stage, transport, and deliver parts around the LLNL site for secondary operations and/or staging of assembly and installation efforts. Will occasionally deliver or pick up parts from local-area suppliers.
- Interact and communicate with vendors, requesters, and other associates in the work unit, LLNL Procurement, LLNL Receiving, and Program personnel.
- Log and report activities and tasks as required by Technical Release Representative Policy and Procedures Guidelines management and regularly provide detailed status updates to supervisor and customers/requesters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition, at the 538.2 Level
- Propose solutions for improvement of moderately complex technical drawing designs, ensuring technical guidelines, standards, specifications, and procedures are implemented for the purpose of manufacturability.
- Plan, initiate, and coordinate the scheduling of moderately complex mechanical and/or electronics fabrications, coordinate assembly projects, and document activities.
- Develop solutions to resolve moderately complex technical problems under general supervision and in collaboration with technical project personnel.
 
Qualifications
- Associate degree in mechanical, electronics, engineering or manufacturing technology; or a technology -related certificate with relevant technician or fabrication-shop work experience; or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
- Possess basic skills and understanding of relevant technologies and processes, to procure and coordinate electronic and mechanical systems, and solve basic technical issues.
- Basic knowledge of acquisition processes; programmatic approval, bid, award, receive, property management, reconciliation, and close-outs.
- Ability to read technical drawings and the ability to identify and specify basic component standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Technical Release Representative Certification.
- Working knowledge of personal computers, associated desktop office software, and database systems and associated reports.
- Attention to detail and consistent follow-through to ensure basic problems are resolved or reported, under close supervision, in a timely manner and policies and procedures are followed.
- Possess effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
In Addition, at the 538.2 Level
- Experience with moderately complex mechanical and/or electronics fabrication assembly design and coordination of schedules, system details, and project quality.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret ANSI Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
- Experience in the review, tracking, and monitoring of service work orders regarding estimates, schedules, and status.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
