We have multiple openings for Civil or Structural Engineers with structural backgrounds. You will provide engineering analysis and design support for structural design projects including design and analysis of structural components required for support of new programmatic equipment installations, structural modifications to existing buildings required for remodeling projects, seismic restraint of building mechanical and electrical equipment, along with seismic upgrade projects for older facilities. These positions are in the Project Management Office (PMO).

This position will be filled at either the TSS.1 or TSS.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Provide engineering analysis and design in support of projects requiring structural design under general direction.
- Provide engineering support to other design team members by collecting and organizing data required during the design process.
- Prepare structural improvement construction drawings and specifications.
- Review and approve construction submittals and observe construction field activities and installations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the TSS.2 level:
- Participate in the development of detailed engineering designs and construction packages for projects requiring structural design under limited direction.
- Provide engineering solutions to a diverse range of moderately complex structural engineering issues and/or problems.
- Represent the organization in providing solutions to moderately complex technical issues associated with specific projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
- Knowledge of fundamental concepts, techniques, practices and procedures for completing tasks or projects in structural engineering.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment and provide high level customer service.
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively in a team environment and present and explain technical information.
In Addition at the TSS.2 level:
- Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California or reciprocity from another state within 24 months, and relevant previous experience performing independent work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, techniques, practices and procedures for completing tasks or projects in structural engineering.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information.
Desired qualifications
- Membership in professional organizations such as ASCE/SEI.
- Knowledge of the California Building Codes and structural engineering design software used for the sizing of foundations, walls, beams, slabs, etc. (RISA preferred).
- Ability to use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare design drawings, and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.
