We have an opening for a Technical Coordinator to support ongoing programmatic activities in the Mechanics of Materials (MoM) group. You will provide general support in management, procurement, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, calibration, ISO 9001 and repair of equipment for scientific, engineering, or technical customers. This position will report to the Materials Engineering Division (MED) within the Engineering Directorate.

Essential Duties
- Manage critical equipment list and be responsible for coordinating offsite vendor visits to calibrate critical equipment within the required calibration period.
- Manage ISO 9001 database updating as necessary.
- Manage service contract budgets for critical equipment.
- Provide basic  general technical, administrative and procurement support to process, coordinate and/or expedite Unicard Orders, Releases, and Requisitions for equipment, repairs, calibrations, materials and hardware to meet program and project schedules.
- Work with Principal Investigators coordinating and tracking programmatic work.
- Interact and communicate with vendors, requesters, and other associates in the work unit, LLNL Procurement, LLNL Receiving, and Program personnel.
- Log and report activities and tasks as required by Technical Release Representative Policy and Procedures Guidelines management and regularly provide detailed status updates to supervisor and customers/requesters.
- Plan, initiate, and coordinate the scheduling of moderately complex mechanical and/or electronics fabrications, coordinate assembly projects, and document activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Associate's degree in mechanical, electronics, engineering or manufacturing technology; or a technology -related certificate with relevant technician or fabrication-shop work experience; or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience 
- Intermediate skills and knowledge  inof acquisition processes; programmatic approval, bid, award, receive, property management, reconciliation, and close-outs.
- Ability to read technical drawings and the ability to identify and specify component standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Technical Release Representative Certification.
- Proficient user of personal computers, associated desktop office software, and database systems and associated reports.
- Attention to detail and consistent follow-through to ensure problems are resolved or reported in a timely manner and policies and procedures are followed.
- Possess effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in the review, tracking, scheduling and monitoring of service work orders regarding estimates, schedules, and status.

Desired Qualifications
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing ANSI Y 14.5.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam:  A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
