We have openings for undergraduate and graduate level students and recent bachelors or masters level graduates within one year the opportunity to engage in practical experience to further their educational goals.  The internship is geared to provide you with valuable employment experience while performing important real-world work assignments.  You will be assigned a job mentor to shadow during your assignment and will perform job tasks along with special projects within LLNL’s Project Management Office and the Operations & Business Principal Directorate. 
Essential Duties at the Undergraduate 705.1 Level (non-exempt)
- Interns will work with a mentor (i.e. Lab employees, leads, etc.).
- Under close supervision, interns will participate in work related to the business of the Project Management Office which may include project management, project controls, estimating, facility design engineering, or construction management.
- Perform tasks in the areas of project management, engineering and/or construction required for the creation of construction documentation for site modification projects.
- One seminar or poster may be presented on the assignment.
- May prepare end-of-assignment technical report.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In addition, at the Graduate 705.2 and Recent Graduate 712.0 Level (exempt)
- Under limited direction and supervision, the intern will conduct more complex work assignments in the assigned business area.
- Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to meet project milestones or deadlines.

Qualifications at the Undergraduate 705.1 Level (non-exempt)
- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Ability to apply basic principles of engineering to solve problems.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with personal computers and associated word processing and spreadsheet software, e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn new software.
- Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment utilizing excellent interpersonal skills.
In addition, at the Graduate 705.2 and Recent Graduate 712.0 Level (exempt)
- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or a recent graduate within one year.
- Demonstrated academic achievement in engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience applying basic principles of engineering to solve problems.
Desired Qualifications
- Current GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.
