For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Business Analyst to plan and conduct the design and maintenance of applications supporting functions such as conference management, travel, receiving, shipping, asset tracking, and vehicle maintenance. You will provide in depth consultation for customers, software developers and vendors to design and execute software and process enhancements. This position is in the Asset Management Department.

Essential Duties
- Act as lead for institutional software applications managed within Asset Management including; providing application configuration, roles provisioning, and acting as a liaison between client and technical staff.
- Assist end-users, developers and vendor in identifying/documenting/troubleshooting and resolving problems and bugs.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams to analyze present state of business processes and workflow, develop alternative future-state approaches, and facilitate implementation of new or enhanced business solutions.
- Lead research efforts to document and analyze business requirements and provide in-depth consultation to client and technical staff to identify and evaluate standards and procedures.
- Lead documentation efforts for process mapping and application testing and training.
- Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members and utilize negotiation skills to influence outcomes. Provide routine communications both verbal and in writing regarding issue tracking, status updates, schedules and project status.
- Perform complex analysis and reporting utilizing high skill level in Microsoft Office Excel (incl. Pivot Tables, Charts, and Excel functions).
- Utilize Structured Query Language (SQL) to provide periodic software data quality assurance reports and ad hoc custom data queries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant functional discipline, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience developing and executing project plans.
- Experience writing functional requirements documents, functional specifications, standard operating procedures and test cases.
- Significant experience contributing to or leading the analysis, selection and deployment of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software products to meet business need.
- Experience applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop practical business solutions.
- Experience applying process improvement tools and methodologies to software projects.
- Experience in the use of advanced reporting, analysis techniques, and summarizing complex data for action.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively, independently and as a team member.

Desired Qualifications
- Familiar with application(s) managing property and/or fleet.
- Project Management certification.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
