For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Security Awareness Coordinator/Program Manager. You will be the Laboratory’s primary resource for planning and executing security awareness activities, communications and training to ensure implementation of DOE Security-related Orders.
               
Essential Duties
- Conduct security briefings to employees and non-employees, and contribute to content development for new briefings.
- Manage, implement, and administer procedures to meet DOE Order activities, supplemental awareness activities, and the documentation, retention, and storage of records.
- Serve as a Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Certified Instructor responsible for creating, maintaining, revising and teaching institutional LTRAIN courses.  Collaborate with PAD/Programs to promote security awareness, address specific security related concerns and/or audiences; conduct briefings and facilitate focus groups (e.g., subcontractor construction training, student training).  Manage lab-wide training completions for Security Awareness training requirements.
- Oversee timely and accurate responses to Security Help Desk, answering questions about Security-related policies and procedures.
- Plan, organize, and participate in the preparation of security-related campaigns, events, and messaging across the Laboratory and select and prepare materials and content for events such as Security Awareness Month, Security Fair, and temporary and permanent messaging displays for building lobbies and outdoor use.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct self-assessments. Compile data and report findings to management, collaborate on solutions and initiate corrective actions.
- Independently interact with senior-level personnel at LLNL, and across the Enterprise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the J01.3 Level
- Serve as the Security Awareness knowledge leader and affiliate to LLNL’s Research and Development (R&D) Programs to ensure compliance with DOE’s Security Orders and LLNL policies and procedures. Represent the Security Organization at institutional and complex wide working groups and committees.
- Independently identify areas for assessments and conduct data analysis to identify existing data trends and leading indicators, identify core issues, present issue analysis to senior management, and recommend effective solutions.
- Develop and pursue a strategic vision for the Security Awareness Program, anticipate and identify current and future needs, and develop and maintain a Program Plan.  

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, in a security, science, or other related field or equivalent combination of education, training and related experience.
- Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills using a high degree of discretion necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines and to maintain productive work relationships. Experience with public speaking: giving presentations, briefings, or training to large groups.
- Demonstrated innovative and creative thinking to help develop new and effective communication to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated teambuilding skills to lead projects to completion.
- Demonstrated decision-making, analytical research and problem-solving skills necessary to anticipate, identify, recommend and implement appropriate actions and solutions to non-routine problems.
-Experience applying security practices, policies, regulatory requirements, orders, regulations and standards to  develop clear, concise, and effective procedures, reports, and training materials.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize own workload and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated proficiency on computers and word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, including MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint.
In Addition at the J01.3 Level
- Experience successfully working independently and in a team setting to conduct assessments, interpret requirements, conduct analytical research, analyze results, and develop and execute sound solutions to complex and highly sensitive problems. Demonstrated ability to continuously self-evaluate effectiveness in meeting program goals, evaluate the effectiveness of the Program Plan execution, and make corrections as needed.
- Experience applying a variety of security policies, processes, principles to guide programmatic activities, protect information, solve problems and monitor compliance.
- Demonstrated highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively direct, present, negotiate with, and influence all levels of management and staff, as well as, ability to network, collaborate, and to represent the Security Organization as a member of a working group providing input on technical issues to accomplish the Security Awareness mission.

Desired Qualifications
- Background in Research & Development environments in both the Federal and private sectors that require information security protection.
- Strong knowledge of social media usage and its inherent information security risks to confidently train employees in understanding increased risks in sharing information via the internet.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at understanding and integrating various training methods to connect with multiple learning styles inherent in a varied workforce.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
