For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Coordinator/Technical Coordinator in the Telecommunications Group (TLCM). You will provide general technical and administrative support for the acquisition, processing, and coordination of materials for the Telecommunications Group. In addition, you will provide backup to Instrument Loan and Pager Services where you will loan out equipment, process returns, update database, handle pager sales, and perform other assignments as required. This position is in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) within the Engineering Directorate.

This position will be filled at either the 538.1 or 538.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Provide basic coordination and support for multiple technical projects and/or activities with frequently changing requirements and priorities.
- Solve basic technical problems and exercise minimal decision making using established guidelines, techniques, and procedures.
- Under close supervision, you will provide technical support including procurement, shipping, receiving, expediting, tracking, manufacturing and repair of equipment and materials support to scientific, engineering or technical customers.
- Generate reports and review work order data to ensure all requirements have been met.
- Maintain procurement delegation status as a Technical Release Representative (TRR), and report activities and tasks as required by policy and procedure guidelines.
- Communicate and frequently interact with vendors, suppliers, and technical Laboratory personnel.
- Strictly adhere to laboratory safety and security guidelines, and regulations, and perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
In Addition, at the 538.2 Level
- Provide general coordination and support for multiple technical projects and/or activities with frequently changing requirements and priorities, working with other technical personnel to develop and implement standards and specifications.
- Participate as a project team member, providing moderately complex technical guidance and procurement support to senior technicians, technical associates, and engineers/scientists on small-to-medium projects.
- Review and resolve technical drawing for accuracy and completeness, and ensure technical guidelines, standards, specifications, and procedures are followed.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Technology or related technology, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Basic understanding of the relevant technologies and processes, including technical standards, procedures, and techniques related to coordination and the procurement process.
- Basic understanding of inventory quality controls and their importance to the maintenance and operation of a service organization.
- Ability to identify and resolve basic technical problems for clients. Knowledge of component standards and specifications.
-  Experience working in a customer service/field support environment.
 - Experience with personal computers and associated desktop office software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus experience in database systems and associated reports.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to safely drive pick-up trucks, lift-up to 25 pounds, and secure loads and occasionally work overtime and/or travel.
In Addition, at the 538.2 Level
- Intermediate level understanding of the procurement process; knowledge of approval, bid, award, receive, reconciliation, and close-out.
- Intermediate level understanding of inventory quality controls and their importance to the maintenance and operation of a service organization.
- Experience with and knowledge of mechanical and/or electronics terminology, standards, procedures, and techniques related to manufacturing practices.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of LLNL’s Electronic Ordering System (EOS).
- Experience working in a purchasing capacity.

 

Pre-Placement Medical Exam:  A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
