We have an opening for an Electric Utility (High-Voltage) Craft Supervisor. You will have technical, administrative, and supervisory responsibility and coordinate the work of electric utility (high-voltage) electricians including maintenance, operations, installation, repair, replacement, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities on the Laboratory’s Site 200 medium-voltage and high-voltage electric utility systems and equipment. This position is in the Electrical Maintenance Division of the Central Facilities & Infrastructure Department.

Essential Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the work of electricians responsible for maintenance, operations, construction, repairs, and testing of the Laboratory’s Site 200 medium- and high-voltage electric utility distribution systems.
- Provide constructive and timely performance feedback to employees; recommend personnel actions including hiring, discipline, dismissal, salary adjustments, and related functions.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines, building and programmatic personnel; schedule work assignments from job orders, work requests, blueprints, and specifications; solve problems and make decisions effectively. Ensure work is performed safely and is in compliance with applicable codes and within expected completion dates.
- Provide leadership in safety by exhibiting an accident free personal safety record. Ensure that safety is factored into all work tasks. Lead high-voltage electricians in deliberate operations for work that is identified as safety critical.
- Establish goals and measurements for productivity improvements in craft work processes and make appropriate adjustments.
- Participate in interviews, maintain records, appropriately interpret and administer policies and procedures in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- Maintain good working relationships with clients, management, and other shops at Livermore and Site 300 (located approximately 17 miles east of the Lab’s main-site in Livermore).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Extensive journey-level work experience working on medium and high-voltage electric utility distribution systems and equipment, including experience with test equipment, tools, and equipment associated with the electric utility trade.
- Supervisory or lead experience, including the ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, schedule workload, write performance appraisals, execute disciplinary action, deal with employee problems, meet deadlines, and effectively motivate, train, develop, and guide high voltage electricians emphasizing teamwork.
- Experience with job hazards and establishing safety standards to assure the public, worker, and environment are protected from adverse consequences. 
- Experience using personal computers and software, customer service skills, excellent communication skills including the ability to interact in writing and orally with all levels of technical and administrative personnel.
- Effective interpersonal skills with self-drive, persistence, attention to detail and the desire to implement improvements to the high-voltage electric utility distribution system and equipment procedures, processes, operations, maintenance, as well as, interaction between electricians, engineers, and customers.
- Ability to work scheduled and emergency overtime work, including off-hours on-call rotation, and be able to work all shifts and in all buildings and areas of the Laboratory, including Site 300.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.

Desired Qualifications
- Ability to interpret and implement departmental and Laboratory administrative personnel policies, procedures and applicable electrical codes.
- Knowledge of the function and operation of the Central F&I and Deployed Teams Departments and of LLNL’s ES&H and security policies and procedures.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.  Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).
