For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have multiple openings for Weapons Infrastructure Project Coordinators. You will plan, manage, and execute equipment and facility recapitalization projects to support the Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) Integrated Product Team (IPT). The infrastructure projects are needed to support capabilities such as nuclear weapon program in high explosives, warhead test and evaluation, and science, technology, and engineering. These positions are in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.

These positions will be filled at either the 337.1 or 339.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Develop requirements, designs, project scope, costs, schedule, and risk plan to field and execute projects focused on programmatic equipment, such as machine tools, off the shelf equipment such as thermal ovens or environmental chambers and/or unique custom program equipment that requires collaborating with SMEs to first write statements of work, and their integration with real property (facility).
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the use of personnel, materials, and equipment.
- Review, write, and develop technical specifications and drawings.
- Participate in formal and informal design reviews.
- Prepare supporting health and safety documentation that is aligned with the Integrated Safety Management (ISM) requirement and participate in design and Management Prestart Reviews.
- Collaborate with mission support organizations in Operations and Business (O&B), Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), and Science, Technology, and Engineering (ST&E) to direct successful project execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 339.2 Level
- Develop and implement rigorous project management methods and tools to ensure successful execution of infrastructure projects.
- Manage facility and infrastructure projects within tight timelines and budget requirements and provide input and estimates for budgets, schedules, and workforce needs.
- Routinely present project status and progress to management and peers. Plan, organize, and work with budget and lead multiple projects of significant scope.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, Certificate in Engineering Technology with significant related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of hardware design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
- Significant experience working with facility design and construction.
- Experience providing administrative and technical leadership and extensive experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to develop and devise innovative solutions for successful project execution.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize, budget, and lead multiple projects of significant scope within requirements and deadlines and guiding personnel from multiple organizations to fulfill programmatic assignments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to oversee technical team, clearly articulate, enforce, and interpret design intent and requirements of component and supporting drawings and other required documentation.
- Knowledge of the Work Control processes.
In Addition at the 339.2 Level
- Highly advanced knowledge in engineering design, fabrication, assembly techniques and materials, material properties, manufacturing methods, and theory.
- Highly advanced knowledge and ability to take initiative to develop and devise innovative solutions for successful project execution.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions using a high degree of independent discretion and judgment to define project approaches and create and implement original solutions.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with highly advanced fabrication and assembly techniques directly applicable to material, components, systems, and equipment.
- Experience working in the nuclear weapons program and with Laboratory operations and business processes.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam:  A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire. 


Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
