For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have multiple openings for Technical Coordinators. You will provide ongoing programmatic support for procurement, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, and repair of materials and equipment for scientific, engineering, or technical customers. These positions are in the Materials Engineering Division (MED), within the Engineering Directorate.
 
These positions will be filled at either the 538.1 or 538.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.
 
Essential Duties
- Provide basic procurement and technical support to business partners and exercise minimal decision making using established guidelines, techniques, and procedures.
- Coordinate and/or expedite Unicard orders, releases, and requisitions for equipment, repairs, materials, and hardware to meet program and project schedules.
- Procure a variety of requests ranging from mechanical components and/or electro-optical systems, raw metal stock, chemicals, computer and networking hardware, and/or biological and laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate and track materials for customers and jobs.
- Review technical drawings using established technical guidelines, standards, and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide coordination support for resolution of vendor supply and fabrication problems, obtain authorization for design changes, substitutions, job orders, and other related actions to resolve basic problems and ensure meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Stage, transport, and deliver parts around the LLNL site for secondary operations and/or staging of assembly and installation efforts. Will occasionally deliver or pick up parts from local-area suppliers.
- Interact and communicate with vendors, requesters, and other associates in the work unit, LLNL Procurement, LLNL Receiving, and Program personnel.
- Log and report activities and tasks as required by Technical Release Representative Policy and Procedures Guidelines regularly providing detailed status updates to supervisor and customers/requesters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

In Addition at the 538.2 Level
- Propose solutions for improvement of technical drawing designs and ensure technical guidelines, standards, specifications, and procedures are implemented for the purpose of manufacturability.
- Plan, initiate, and coordinate the scheduling of moderately complex mechanical and/or electronics fabrications, coordinate assembly projects, and document activities.
- Develop solutions to resolve moderately complex technical problems and collaborate with technical project personnel to develop solutions.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in mechanical, electronics, engineering or manufacturing technology; or a technology related certificate with an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Possess basic skills and understanding of relevant technologies and processes, to procure and coordinate electronic and mechanical systems, and solve basic technical issues.
- Basic knowledge of acquisition processes; programmatic approval, bid, award, receive, property management, reconciliation, and close-outs.
- Ability to read technical drawings and identify and specify component standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Technical Release Representative Certification.
- Working knowledge of personal computers, associated desktop office software, and database systems and associated reports.
- Attention to detail and consistent follow-through to ensure problems are resolved or reported in a timely manner and policies and procedures are followed.
- Possess effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

In Addition at the 538.2 Level
- Intermediate level of understanding of mechanical and/or electronics fabrication assembly design, coordination of schedules, system details, and project quality.
- Moderate knowledge and ability to interpret ANSI Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards.
- Experience in the review, tracking, and monitoring of service work orders regarding estimates, schedules, and status.

 

 

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
