For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Service Operations Specialist/Radiological Operations Coordinator. You will assist with the development and implementation of the policies, procedures and databases to support the Radiological Operations office. You will provide analytical support and contribute to decisions regarding the application of administrative processes and procedures related to radiological detection and control functions on the National Ignition Facility (NIF). You will report to the NIF Radiological Operations Manager and the NIF Site Operations Administrator.

This position will be filled at either the A07.1 or A07.2 level depending on qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Assess administrative processes and participate in the implementation of best practices.
- Assess the Access Key System in NIF Facility for restricted access and maintain the access databases for all NIF Site Access points.
- Maintain passwords/administrative privileges for all Rad Ops equipment and Rad Worker Integrated Work Sheet (IWS) training shells and create IWS’s.
- Participate in the preparation of documentation necessary for the NIF Radiological Safety Program, including, Safety Plans, Radiation Work Permits, Integrated Safety Work Sheets (IWS's) and implementing procedures.
- Prepare NIF Radiological Safety Program training and exposure records for assessments and audits, document policies, agreements, and safety correspondence, maintain master documentation, ensure compliance with LLNL records policy, and prepare data for reviews.
- Compile requests for access to Rad Ops information systems and networks and maintain RCT schedules and ensure communication within the multi-shift operational nature of the group.
- Maintain a variety of documents and data associated with hazard management on the Radiological Operations SharePoint site and in ELM (document storage system).
-Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the A07.2 Level
- Manage NIF Radiological Safety Program’s consumable budget, procurement and supply chain, supporting the Radiation Safety Manager with enterprise resource management; including NIF part number assignments and warehousing.
- Manage the Respirator Qualification Program for all NIF Radiation Worker 2 employees.
- Prepare and process specialized procurements for Rad Ops materials and equipment.

Qualifications
- Experience coordinating work activities, work flow and processes and leading administrative projects and the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Knowledge of developing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets for analyzing performance data.
- Experience coordinating personnel availability, shifts, and scheduling to accommodate workload demands.
- Experience with personal computers and associated software (word processing, spreadsheet and presentation).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with personnel internal and external to the Laboratory.  
- Effective organization skills, including the coordination of multiple activities and the ability to independently determine and set priorities and goals.
In Addition at the A07.2 Level
- Effective problem solving, analytical and organizational skills with the ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex issues.
- Experience developing administrative processes and generating process improvements for an operations area, as well as in the development, implementation, and enforcement of ES&H policies and procedures.
- Experience developing operational protocols/processes that help an enterprise be structured, organized, and effective.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with NIF policies and procedures.
- Advanced computer software skills in databases and ECMS (SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Understanding of radiological safety concepts.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
 

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
