For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Service Operations Specialist who will be responsible for leadership, direction, task assignment and coordination of the Secure Communications Center team in support of all classified/unclassified needs. You will interact with co-workers, supervisor, technical support personnel, building coordinators, and project managers on all COMSEC efforts. This position is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services Division (EIS) within the Computation Directorate supporting the LivIT program.


This position will be filled at either the A07.1 or A07.2 level depending on qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if selected at the higher level.


- Perform duties as the Classified Administrative Specialist (CAS) for classified documents, Classified Matter Protection and Control, repositories, mailing classified documents and equipment.
- Act as the point of contact for all Semi-annual and annual inventories and audits including DOE audits.
- Serve as a primary ISSO contact for the DOE Tactical Decision Agent (TDA) messaging system.
-Main point of contact for the Center including interaction with facility personnel to maintain the integrity of the facility.
- Develop schedules, track progress, monitor quality and ensure timely completion of various concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Oversee all preparations for all facility, event, and special project requests including deadlines, coordination and communication with other Directorates management and organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
 In Addition at the A07.2 Level
-Lead, schedule, distribute work and oversee the secure communications team responsibilities that include operation of the DOE TDA message center, COMSEC accounts, and secure telephones, including establishing and modifying work procedures, guidelines, and techniques.
-Develop and implement business/security processes and procedures for the center, COMSEC accounts and COMSEC equipment, including establishing metrics, collecting data, and preparing reports and charts.
- Identify complex COMSEC issues and have the issues resolved.

Qualifications
- Experience coordinating work activities, work flow and processes for a service operations/customer service area.
- Possess knowledge of and experience in COMSEC, security policies, and/or Classified material handling.
- Organizational and communication skills with experience handling multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a dynamic operations environment.
- Experience applying organizational practices/policies, techniques, standards, processes, and systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and on-call service.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and customers.
- Current California driver’s license required.
In Addition at the A07.2 Level
- Experience independently researching and resolving multi-faceted and/or escalated problems and questions.
-Ability to maintain records and documents, including preparing and analyzing information for management decisions.
-Experience leading and directing assignments for a work unit.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of LLNL policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of STEs, and Viper VoIP secure telephones.
- Knowledge of encryption equipment and procedures.

 

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
 

Security Clearance:  This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire. 

 

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
