For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for an Alternate Organization Information System Security Officer (AOISSO) to provide advanced cyber and technical support for multiple classified networks, standalone systems, security systems, user accounts and access, and implementation of security controls. You will manage complex security plans and component configurations, complete Self-Assessments, and complete computer security projects, interact regularly with other team members, customers, management, and sponsors to solve a variety of complex cyber problems in a timely manner. This position is in the IT Systems, Services, and Support Division (ITSSS) within the Computation Directorate, matrixed to the National Ignition Facility (NIF) Computer Support Unit (CSU).

This position will be filled at either the 393.1 or 393.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties  
- Author comprehensive Federal Information System Management Act (FISMA) document packages, interacting with several government agencies.
- Plan, design, and evaluate cybersecurity solutions
- Evaluate security products currently in use and those suggested for use, including an analysis of the respective product, its integration into the comprehensive architecture, its interaction with other solutions, and its interaction with external products to which they will interface with.
- Perform advanced computer security tasks such as vulnerability remediation support, advanced documentation on policies, procedures, test plans and risk analysis and mitigation
- Review computer audit logs and work with IT Support staff to investigate anomalies.
- Inspect and document information systems to verify compliance.
- Work closely with the System Administrator to maintain the system's security and accreditation status.
- Manage unclassified and classified account approvals and process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Collaborate with customers in the design of their computing environment and security management processes.
- Manage cyber-security related projects with a broad scope over multiple environments and research, evaluate, and recommend cyber tools.
- Develop and/or recommend complex cyber support processes.

- Bachelor’s degree in a computer or engineering related field or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Extensive experience in information security, as an Information Systems Security Officer, or an equivalent cyber role.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge and experience in authoring and testing system security plans.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of and technical expertise with cyber-related tools for auditing, compliance verification, vulnerability testing, and continuous system monitoring.
- Ability to set priorities and solve complex problems in a fast-paced, customer-focused team environment.
- Advanced verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Highly advanced knowledge of and substantial experience in Computer Security practices and procedures.
- High level technical contributor with expertise in building, maintaining, and or supporting integrated computing and network environments with the ability to independently interact with the Computer Security Program (CSP).
- Known authority and mastery in the systems administration and/or networking field; sought out for broad and in-depth

Desired Qualifications
- Professional computer certification (e.g., CISSP, SANS Certification).

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
