For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Technical Coordinator/Permit Desk Coordinator. You will review engineering blueprint drawings to process permits for maintenance and construction jobs for internal and external customers.  In addition, you will review, input and maintain permit data and update AutoCAD drawings.  This position is in the Central Facilities & Infrastructure Department.

Essential Duties
- Provide general coordination and support for the site-wide permitting processes, including low-voltage outage, soil excavation, concrete and masonry, and building drain permits; review permits for completeness and update and maintain various permit databases.
- Provide supervisor and customers/requestors with status updates of job requests.
- Train and mentor co-workers on permit processes and procedures.
- Provide input to established procedures, standards and guidelines, as well as technical guidance on permit processes.
- Perform general updates to AutoCAD drawings.
- Interact regularly with co-workers, engineers, project managers, construction managers, and skilled technical personnel with follow-up to supervisor.
- Ensure compliance to ES&H and Security requirements and LLNL policies and procedures.
- Resolve and report hazards or potential hazards.
- Perform other duties as required.

- AA/AS degree in relevant technology or the equivalent combination of education and
  experience in a maintenance and construction field.
- Knowledge of permitting processes in a construction environment, with the ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
- Intermediate skills and understanding of relevant electrical technologies and processes.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to safety with a high level of safety awareness and safe working practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members from diverse organizations; and to form effective partnerships and alliances to achieve desired outcomes.
- Possess effective written, verbal, feedback and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and conflicting/changing priorities, as well as plan and organize work while maintaining schedules and timelines.
- Experience with personal computers and associated software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and database applications.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the function and operation of the Central Facilities & Infrastructure Department.
- General knowledge of LLNL’s ES&H and security policies and procedures.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.  In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  L-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
