For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a Technical Coordinator/Technical Release Representative.  You will perform a combination of specialized, complex administrative and task-oriented duties related to the procuring of materials and services, identifying and enforcing controls regarding the acquisition requirements for project scheduling, execution and completion. You will be interpreting and establishing policies and procedures to formulate recommendations.  This position is in the Computer Systems Support (CSS) Division within the Computation Directorate matrixed to the Science & Technology (S&T) Computer Support Unit (CSU) supporting the S&T Principal Associate Directorate.

The position will be filled at the 538.2 or 538.3 level depending your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Coordinate and track materials for customers, track procurements and delivery of IT related purchases, and jobs.
- Procure a variety of electronics components, equipment, hardware, and materials.
- Provide shipping, receiving, expediting, and tracking of equipment and materials support to various customers.
- Collaborate with technical personnel to develop and implement standards and specifications.
- Develop solutions to resolve moderately complex technical problems, collaborating with technical project personnel.
- Provide Technical Release Representative (TRR) services requiring in-depth knowledge of purchasing requirements and regulations, including participating in procurement audits and reviews.
- Perform a combination of technical and administrative duties in support of IT operations and maintain computer based tracking system for procurements.
- Communicate with a variety of commercial manufacturing companies, suppliers and technical Laboratory personnel in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 538.3 Level
- Provide advanced coordination support of procurement deliverables and provide technical interface between LLNL and supplier, e.g., on time deliverables, milestone reviews, and complex technical resolutions during processing.
- Make independent decisions regarding product alternatives, supplier selections and substitute hardware and materials using LLNL guidelines, techniques, and procedures.
- Independently place, process, document and follow-up on all credit orders, including reconciliation requirements and procurements self-assessment audits.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of education and technical training.
-Experience procuring materials and/or services; coordinating with buyers and end users regarding pricing, scheduling and product specifications as well as preparing, processing, tracking and verifying procurement related documents, forms and requests.
- Experience working under minimal supervision, in a multitask environment with rapidly changing deadlines, instructions, priorities, and frequent interruptions.
- Proven administrative and organizational skills including coordinating multiple activities, and to independently determine and set priorities and goals.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, complex tasks with changing priorities.
- Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and FilemakerPro, and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Possess effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines.
In Addition at the 538.3 Level
- Advanced skills, knowledge, and demonstrated abilities in procurement and coordination of materials and equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of decision making for fabrication alternatives, supplies selections and materials.

Desired Qualifications
- Ability to acquire and maintain Technical Release Representative (TRR) certification.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Software Suite, using project management tools to track project tasks and milestones, network hardware, software, protocols, and principles, and writing basic to intermediate scripts.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
 

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

 

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
