We have an opening for a Cyber Analyst/Security Control Assessor to independently and collaboratively perform a wide range of activities associated with cyber security with emphasis on cloud security.  The position is within the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITSD) of the Computation Directorate matrixed to the Cyber Security Program (CSP) within the LivIT Program.

This position will be filled at either the 393.1 or 393.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.


Essential Duties
- Identify security concerns by analyzing advanced computer system security control requirements and implementations to determine unmitigated risks to computer operating systems, networks, and cloud services.
- Analyze information system security plans and testing documents, and assist programs in the development of testing procedures and security plan documentation.
- Collaborate with management to perform advanced assessments in support of cloud services and ongoing authorization of information systems and cloud services.
- Provide advanced technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring to others in area of cyber security by defining projects, tasks, and areas of responsibility for others.
- Independently conduct Cyber Security Program self-assessments and contribute to the development and completion of corrective action plans when needed for programs and CSP.
- Participate in external cyber security auditing functions and in the response, collection of data, preparation of reports to outside agencies, Congress, and organizations internal and external to the Laboratory.
- Analyze and evaluate cloud service responsibilities and cyber security processes, procedures and policies for efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
 In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Mentor and provide highly advanced technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring to others in area of cyber security by defining projects, tasks, and areas of responsibility for others.
- Automate highly complex CSP processes.
- Exercise independent judgement to define, develop, and implement original solutions to complex problems of a broad and diverse scope at the team, directorate, or institutional level.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer or engineering related field or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Extensive experience of computer and network technologies and Apple, Windows, and/or Linux hardware and operating systems, and knowledge of securing cloud services.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues and develop effective solutions and experience performing advanced risk analysis.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in one or more areas such as cyber security administration, computer hardware, computer programming, high performance computing, data analysis.
- Experience and knowledge of the skills needed for a customer support role to include a focus on listening, rapport-building, good communication skills, friendly and approachable nature, courtesy and patience, and negotiating and influencing skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate, negotiate and influence all levels of personnel.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and document, present and explain technical information.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to effectively handle concurrent technical tasks with conflicting priorities to implement research concepts in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
 In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Significant experience with networking hardware and protocols.
- Highly advanced knowledge of Apple, Windows, and/or Linux hardware and operating systems, and cloud services technology and security requirements.
- Substantial experience in computer and network technologies.

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of risk mitigation requirements for computer operating systems and cloud services.
- Knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 (Security of Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations) and LLNL’s implementation of the controls.
- Knowledge of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and associated requirements.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
 

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
