We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Staff Member in the field of high performance computing (HPC) simulation of open quantum system dynamics, quantum information and quantum emulation. You will apply your background and knowledge in HPC, numerical simulation of quantum systems and interest in working with experimental teams to realize platforms for quantum emulation. This position is in the Quantum Coherent Device Physics group, Condensed Matter Section, of the Physics Division.

Essential Duties
- Develop and apply theoretical models to outstanding problems in quantum emulation based on quantum coherent manipulation of superconducting circuits.
- Advance the current state of the art in physically accurate simulation of open quantum systems in a HPC environment.
- Publish research results in external peer-reviewed scientific journals and participate in international conferences.
- Present formal and informal overview of research progress at weekly meetings.
- Pursue independent (but complementary) research interests and interact with a broad spectrum of scientists internally and externally.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Lindblad, Nakajima Zwanzig, renormalization group and other theoretical underpinnings of effective simulation of open quantum system dynamics.
- Experience developing high-performance, massively parallel simulation codes.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Security Clearance:  None required.
