NOTE: This is a one year Postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension to a maximum of three years. Eligible candidates are recent PhDs within five years of the month of the degree award at time of hire date.

The Computational Engineering Division (CED) has multiple openings for Signal and Image Processing Postdoctoral Research Staff Members to conduct basic and applied research in the Signal and Image Sciences. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, sparse signal recovery and compressive sensing, machine learning techniques for the signal and image sciences, inverse problems and image reconstruction, and video analytics. In addition, the selected candidates will present research results to internal and external audiences, publish research results at appropriate venues such as international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, and develop proposals with the aim to advance research in the selected area. These positions will report to a Group Leader within the Signal and Image Sciences Section.

- Conduct research in the signal and image sciences which creates and implements new state-of-the-art algorithms and/or hardware systems.
- Design, implement, and analyze techniques in the signal and image sciences.
- Document research; publish papers in peer-reviewed journals, and present results within the DOE community and at conferences.
- Pursue independent (but complementary) research interests and interact with a broad spectrum of scientists internally and externally.
- Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.

- Recent PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
- Demonstrated state-of-the-art knowledge of one or more specialization topics within the signal and image sciences.
- Experience using contemporary software and/or hardware tools for algorithm and/or system development in the signal and image sciences.
- Ability to develop and conduct independent research projects with minimal guidance.
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or at major conferences in the signal and image sciences.
- Demonstrated fundamental verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment and present and explain technical information.
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing and writing technical proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to attract funding from technical and scientific R&D organizations.
